Last chance to buy Passports with Purpose raffle tickets to raise money for Heifer International. Don’t miss out!
The Passports with Purpose raffle has been a great success – so far, we’ve raised $6,560 for Heifer International. As Pam at Nerd’s Eye View writes, that’s a whole lotta llama!
For the past week or so, many of my readers have been caught up in the hoopla of Christmas and other social occasions. This might be the first chance that you’ve had to stop and draw breath. After all the indulgence of the festive season, how better to end the year than by reaching out and helping someone less fortunate?
Everybody’s experiences are different, but I know that living in London and travelling all over the world, I see a lot of people in unfortunate situations. In many cases, I would like to help but I’m not sure the best way how and whether direct giving would necessarily help in the long term. I like the philosophy of Heifer International because it seems to be less about hand-outs and more about helping people to help themselves.
But we’re not asking you to give without getting something in return – travel bloggers have enlisted the help of their contacts and pulled in favours to pull together a fabulous prize list. Many of the prizes offer exceptional odds of winning. How about horse riding on the beach in Florida, cooking class and dinner for four in New York City, or a gift pack of gorgeous Indonesian textiles? The full prize list is here and you can calculate your odds of winning by searching for the prize code on the two pages of entries here.
Please don’t delay, buy a raffle ticket now – dare I hope, we might break the $7000 barrier? Choose your prize and then donate the money at the FirstGiving fundraising page, leaving the code for the desired prize in the comment field. It’s $10 per ticket.
Well done to everyone involved, both the bloggers and the raffle ticket buyers. Special kudos to the gals who came up with the idea and made it happen – Debbie Dubrow of DeliciousBaby, Pam Mandel of Nerd’s Eye View, Michelle Duffy of WanderMom and Beth Whitman of Wanderlust and Lipstick.
