An update on travel blog awards, following from this post.
- This news just in. Mark Ashley from Upgrade Travel has contacted me to inform me that the Travvies will indeed run this year. Apparently there was a problem last year and the nominations were collected but something went badly wrong at that point. He plans to revive it and will kick off the process in about a month so watch this space. You can see the list of 2007 winners here.
- I’m delighted and flattered by so many of you saying that you are going to nominate Roaming Tales or The Gooseberry Fool for the 2009 Bloggies. It really means a lot to me and even if I don’t make the finals (which is admittedly a long-shot), I’m really enjoying basking in all the praise and warm wishes. Also, it does make a difference because there is a two-stage process to come up with the finalists and the first part of that takes into account the number of nominations a blog receives. Think about the other categories as well – I’m not eligible for Best New Weblog because I started both blogs in 2007 but they have pretty small readerships so Best-Kept Secret Weblog is not beyond the realms of possibility. I’m going to stop pimping now, I promise! Mainly, I’m just hoping for wider recognition of travel blogging this year, after a complete absence last year, so please spread the love around and nominate other travel blogs as well.
- I’ve just nominated a bunch of my favourite blogs for the Lonely Planet Travel Blogger Awards as promised – there are too many to list here and I plan to add to it over the coming weeks (yay for unlimited nominations!). I can submit the form again, so if you want to remind me about your blog then please feel free to plug shamelessly in the comments, though there’s a good chance I’ve already got you covered. And please do consider Roaming Tales for Best Travelogue (I’m not sure it fits any of the other categories). We’ve got until mid February on this one.
- Please check out this post on The Gooseberry Fool for the latest on food blogging awards.
Oh, yay! I didn’t know you had a food blog! I am definitely checking out The Gooseberry Fool. I love food – preparing them, eating them, thinking about ‘em, reading about ‘em…
Thank you for visiting my site!
