Thank you to everyone who provided feedback to my question about the format of this ‘best of the web’ feature. The polls will remain open until Wednesday but I have more or less decided what I want to do.
This will be my last regular link love post in this format, though I may decide to do them occasionally as I feel like it. My plan is to host themed carnivals instead and initially I’m going to try out Simply Linked, which Debbie Dubrow is currently using for Photo Fridays on her blog DeliciousBaby Journal. I will invite people to submit links on a theme – and I will also add links that I find as well.
My first theme, for next Monday will be on food and travel so please get your posts ready. Examples of topics that would fit the theme include restaurant reviews, recipes for distinctive regional or national cuisines, and tales of dining and eating experiences on your travel, whether that be eating witchety grubs in Australia or living on peanut butter sandwiches on a backpacker budget.
Meanwhile, here are a few links that caught my fancy this week.
Salad. I love the look of this recipe for Moroccan aubergine and chickpea salad, on BBC Good Food. I would use pomegranate molasses rather than honey though and lately I have been cooking chick peas from scratch and freezing them in batches, so I probably wouldn’t use the tinned chick peas either.
Shortbread. I love the sound of lemon-chamomile shortbread – recipe from Ezra Pound Cake.
Blogs. Helen Yuet Ling Pang from World Foodie Guide has the UK food blog rankings for October from Wikio.
Iberica. Spittoon Extra writes about Iberica, a Spanish restaurant in London.
Ottolenghi. Helen Graves of Food Stories reviews Ottolenghi restaurant in London.
Gourmet. You’ve all heard that revered American food magazine Gourmet is closing. Food critic Jay Rayner writes about it for Word of Mouth.
Sounds like you’ve made a good decision, Caitlin. The Carnival of Cities that Sheila Scarborough does are always fun, so this should be a cinch (hopefully!) for you. Look forward to seeing it!
Thanks for the great links, I’m trying to broaden my food horizons and this was great.
