Enter to win a Caribbean holiday and help build a school in rural Cambodia.
I am thrilled to announce my participation in the travel blogging fundraiser Passports with Purpose.
The lovely folks at Coconut Bay Beach Resort and Spa in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean have agreed to sponsor a prize. And what a fantastic prize!
For a measly $10 you get a chance to win:
- Four days/three nights of all-inclusive accommodations at Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa in St. Lucia for two adults and up to two children (in same garden-view room).
- All-inclusive amenities: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks daily, unlimited juices, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, fully supervised children’s center with daily schedule of activities, daily entertainment program, water park attraction, airport transfers from St. Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport, all hotel taxes and gratuities. Also, a free round of paintball and an introductory kite-surfing class per room booking and a CocoPack for each child under 12 (with backpack, water bottle, hat and t-shirt).
- Terms: Includes blackout dates and based on availability.
- Validity Dates: April 1, 2010 – December 15, 2010
- Prized value: $2,160
Not only that, but your donation goes to a fantastic cause – this year we are fundraising to build a school in rural Cambodia through American Assistance for Cambodia, an independent non-profit association. I’ve been to Cambodia and I know that a lot of children there don’t have the opportunity to go to school, so I’m really pleased to be supporting this cause. You can read more about why we chose this cause in these moving posts by Pam Mandel at Nerd’s Eye View and Debbie Dubrow at DeliciousBaby Journal.
Yesterday I felt like Billy No-Mates because I hadn’t been able to come up with a prize worth at least $75. What a difference a day makes! The raffle started two days ago but I think you’ll agree that this prize is worth the wait. I wish I could win it myself!
Three days is long enough to have a relaxing break, especially since it’s a short flight from most US locations. If you’re coming from further afield, you could always extend your stay or take the opportunity to explore beautiful Saint Lucia and the Caribbean. The island is known for hiking, cycling, snorkelling and diving and horse-riding, and there is plenty of delicious Caribbean food and rum to enjoy.
Since Coconut Bay is an all-inclusive resort and the prize includes all charges, you don’t have to worry about sneaky extras breaking the bank. (Some things like spa treatments are extra). You just have to get yourself to St Lucia and Coconut Bay will look after the rest.
If you just want to relax, it looks like an ideal location for doing just that, with white sand to lie on and aqua blue waters to swim in. But if you, or your family, have energy to burn off, the free kite-surfing lesson or round of paintball sounds seriously fun. (I’ve tried kite-boarding and it takes a while to get used to controlling the power-kite but it’s super-fun – I’m sure it’s similar with kite-surfing, but you have the added splash factor to make it even more fun!).
I think one of the best things about the resort is that it caters to couples and families separately. The “Harmony” half of the resort is only for adults so it’s the perfect setting for a romantic escape, with a palm-fringed pool, braided hammocks, intimate cabana beds and the ocean-front Kai Mer Spa. The “Splash” half of the resort caters for families with a tropical playground feel. This is where the paintball facility and watersports complex with the kite-surfing is located. Splash also includes the CocoLand Kidz Klub and the island’s largest water park.
So don’t delay, go directly to the donation page and buy your Passports with Purpose raffle tickets now! $10 is enough to buy you one entry but the prize is so good I’m sure you will want to buy more. $50 will buy you five entries. $100 will buy you 10. Go wild!
Look for the Coconut Bay prize under the ‘Destinations’ category and don’t forget to check out the other prizes while you’re there. A ukelele perhaps? Or maybe you would prefer a personal photography shoot on location in beautiful Puget Sound?

Way to go Caitlin,
What a difference a year makes. I have fantastic donations from Briggs & Riley and OtterBox.
PR companies and resorts in the know should think about what they would like to donate for 2010 Passports with Purpose.
Great prize and I’m so bummed that, as a founder, I can’t participate in the raffle!

It is always pleasing to be involved in a win win promotion particularly for a beautiful country such as Cambodia. To win a vacation such as this and knowing that you contribute to aid of Cambodian children will also cause some pleasant memories. Go for it!
