This is an exceptionally strong year for food blogs in the annual Weblog Awards, or Bloggies. There are no fewer than 17 food blogs in the finals. Yes, 17 – and some of them are nominated for multiple awards. Pretty impressive!
Two years ago, there were 11 food blogs in the finals and no travel blogs. This year there are 14 travel and expat blogs in the finals but the growth of travel blogging clearly hasn’t come at the expense of food blogging. What I found interesting is that food blogs did particularly well in the regional categories, especially in Asia, Europe and Canada. Also noteworthy is the fact that the Best Food Weblog category itself is dominated by American baking blogs.
You have until 31 January to vote – and make sure you use a real email address as you will have to verify your vote. The Bloggies are one of the most well-respected sets of blogging awards out there so please get involved.
Congratulations to all the finalists.

Oh yes I have visited all those blog sites and they are great and helpful especially Serious Eats. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t know how this contest could be taken seriously without the addition of the blog I have posted a link for below. The blogs above are very similar for the most part, where is the originality like in the one below?

The nominations come from the public and the 2011 contest should be starting up shortly. Why don’t you nominate your favourite blogs? I do think the ones that won this year have originality though.
I knew there were food blogs on the net but never knew the community was so vast. I am enjoying reading thru these sites!
Its a great way to enjoy great food vicariously, without all the calories or guilt.
Not as fun mind you, but spending some time on these blogs is very enjoyable
